Volunteer application form

We are seeking volunteers who are non-judgemental, warm, caring, reliable, empathetic and supportive. Listening Volunteers provide confidential ongoing face-to-face support to visitors; Helping Volunteers provide support to the shift, greet visitors and undertake a variety of admin and other tasks.

  • The Listening Place requires all listening volunteers to commit to one year of volunteering and all helping volunteers to commit to six months of volunteering after their initial training, with a minimum commitment of a regular four hour shift per fortnight.
  • As The Listening Place works with a vulnerable client group it is not exempt from the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Anyone who wishes to volunteer is asked to agree to an enhanced disclosure.

The Listening Place will not discriminate against people with convictions unless they are particularly relevant to the position.There is a three month notice period for listening volunteers and a one month notice period for helping volunteers.
