Listening volunteers provide ongoing face-to-face support to visitors; we are seeking volunteers who are non-judgemental, warm, caring, empathetic and supportive.
Helping volunteers provide support to the shift, greet visitors and undertake a variety of admin and other tasks.

The Listening Place requires all listening volunteers to commit to one year of volunteering after the completion of initial training, with a minimum commitment of 4 hours per fortnight.
It is The Listening Place’s policy to have at least 3 volunteers on duty at any one time. Please could you state the days and times that you could offer support. (This is a required).

As The Listening Place works with a vulnerable client group it is not exempt from the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
Anyone who wishes to volunteer is asked to agree to an enhanced disclosure. Guidelines can be downloaded at www.homeoffice.gov.uk/dbs. The Listening Place will not discriminate against people with convictions unless they are particularly relevant to the position.
There is a three month notice period for listening volunteers and a one month notice period for helping volunteers.
